    Food similar to Diamond Naturals?

Ok so long story short when we moved closer to DH's parents I found out they were feeding their dogs Ol RoyIck!, I convinced them to switch to Diamond naturals. They were getting it at the feed store which has closed down very suddenly. Dad -in-law asked me what food is similar in diamond ( price and ingrediants) that he can find at petsmart or walmart - pretty much all we have close by. I know you guys can help me out! ThanksYes

There may be more places to buy dog food in your area than you think.Try feed supply stores like where horse grain is purchased.Mine has a wonderful selection. Also some companies deliver. Many kennels and larger breeders sell better dog foods on the side.I buy Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul at the feed store. It runs$32. for 35 lbs.If you do a search and find the Diamond website they should have a dealer locator where you enter your zip code and they tell you who sells their food near you.Good luck.

It might help to know which formula of the Diamond Naturals they currently feed and what they pay per bag---prices differ so much depending on where you live.

I'm going out on a limb, here but if they are shopping at Petsmart, perhaps Nutro would be close to the Diamond formulas, or maybe even Nature's Recipe.

Probably Nature's Recipe. Nutro has gone up in $$$ as has NR a bit but at least the formula's in NR haven't changed overmuch like they did in Nutro. Tractor supply co. carries the DN here.

Do you, by any chance, have a Costco close to your house at all?  Costco's Kirkland brand of dog foods are very good for the price you pay ($22 for 40lbs) and they are made for Costco by Diamond.

P.S.  I just came back from Costco and I saw a new Costco's Kirkland dry dog food for "mature dogs" ...they define mature to be 7 years or older and not bad............ crude protein at 27% with crude fat at 12% (no glutens, no grain proteins....yeah!!!  I am impressed that more good companies are making senior dog food with more protein instead of less protein).  I personally would pick this formula for my 2 year old lab over the regular adult chicken based one (crude protein at 26% with crude fat at 16%).

Although I was a huge fan of Kirkland's we recently had some troubles with the lamb version of the food.... and although we got our money back, it was $500 in vet bills for something that still isn't diagnosed (although not life-threatening either), and the "dr" on the phone at the company didn't really earn my trust when I called them to see if anyone else had issues.  Now, this *seems* like an isolated incident so maybe it was something with *one* bag of food... and maybe she was trying to "dumb down" for the average pet owner but some of the things she was saying didn't make a ton of sense scientifically (I'm a research scientist so I can see past when they try to dumb it down).  We fed the food for over a year, alternating flavors, with no issues prior to this.

But, the ingredients are great for the price you pay, take our experience for what's it worth.  We bought the membership pretty much only for the dog food since there's only two of us and Costco sizes of most things are just a bit too much.

Chicken Soup is a good food for the price as well, if that is available.  Our Petco also carries a much better selection of dog foods than our Petsmart does, if that is an option -- things like Blue, Natural Balance, Wellness, etc.
