    canned food suggestions?

I am in the process of getting Bugsy tested to be a blood donor and they like to give the dog canned food afterward.  Once again the allergies to Chicken, turkey and egg limit our choices.  I am going to look for tripe locally for our first test but if he is accepted I will look to buy a case of something.

    So suggestions please

Right off the top of my head-----EVO canned 95% beef, ByNature 95% beef, and the Wellness Canned 95% formulas in beef ,venison and lamb.  The EVO and byNature are complete and balanced meals---the Wellness are not, if that matters.  No chicken, turkey or eggs in them----be careful with the EVO 95% meat formulas, as I "think" only the beef has no egg, but the some of their other formulas, such as the venison, do.

Wellness also now offers Core canned---salmon, herring and whitefish formula is a complete and balanced diet---should also meet your no turkey/chx/egg criteria.

I went through what we have at the house.  All of these should work for Bugs.

    • Evo 95% Beef & Venison
    • Fromm Beef, Tuna, Pork Tenderloin, & Salmon
    • Wellness 95% Beef, Venison, Salmon, & Lamb
    • Timberwolf Venison & Trout

I like a lot of Evanger's canned food.  These are what I get for my lab (as toppers for his kibble)

Hunk of Beef, Duck and Sweet Potato, 100% game meats like Buffalo and Venison, Whole Mackerel with gravy.

If you have time before the test, check out the selection at K9Cuisine.com - this place was like Disneyland for me with Ben's allergies.  They used to sell the Canine Caviar Beaver, but don't seem to, darn.  That's the highest protein that you can get in a canned.  It might be good for Bugsy.  I found it on the manufacturer's web site.  Canine Caviar Beaver.

Good luck!  I can see Bugsy reclining with an orange juice and pastries in hand.  LOL!

Bugsy reclining now that is LOL.  I hope he has universal type, that is all they are taking at the moment and I hope that he is cool with it all.  If he is accepted he will be signed on for two years and will donate no more than once every two months.  Only foreseeable potential pitfall is when his environmental allergies hit he cannot take Benadryl for a whole week before donating.  Those times may be tricky to handle.  But first things first.  He gets typed on Tuesday - fingers and paws crossed.

All of my dogs did great on Nature's Variety Lamb, they also have a venison

Nature's Variety is a great product, but I'm pretty sure all of the formulas contain egg, which would not work for Bugsy.
