Figs??

    Figs??

DH & I have recently bought some new property.  It has fig trees planted around the house.  Tonight, while Bevo, Shooter & I were working in the yard, I ate a few of the figs.    I went back to picking up limbs.  When I turned around, the boys were helping themselves to figs off the tree.  I stopped them, had them drop them, & leave them.

I am curious if figs are harmful to dogs?

I don't know for sure, but last year, Tar picked a ton from the fig tree. Nothing happened, except having the runs from eating so many figs. Guess who doesn't go by the fig tree anymore? lol

HA, I totally thought to myself, 'did I start this thread?! And not remember?!'

We have a fig tree in our neighborhood, and when BF walks the dog, he will only walk to the fig tree. On the way back, he and Pirate eat figs together. Fortunately BF doesn't walk the dog often :)

I've never noticed anything horrible happen from a fig here or there, and my Google powers didn't turn anything up, so I don't think they can be too bad!

ETA: Look! Addiction even makes a dog food with figs in it! [http://www.addictionfoods.com/usa/prod_dog_figlicious.php]

    I think that's hysterical.

Figs are AWESOME -- full of fiber (yep, almost as good a laxative as prunes if you/they eat too many) -- FULL of iron and all kinds of good stuff.

Great treats -- many sticky fruits (with the exception of raisins) are -- dates also.

We have a fig tree in our yard. The neighborhood deer and squirrells love it! Emma enjoys sniffing the hoofprints, and chasing the squirrells. Ena is a fig FEIND!!!

She's a little, toy sized puppy, and it doesn't bother her. She'll eat 2 or 3 at a time.
