    California Natural???

What do you think about California Natural for puppies?

I think it is a good choice. I haven't fed it myself, but my understanding is that they are simple formulas that are easier on the digestive system. For an adult dog, I personally would like a little more protein, but I don't see a problem with it nutrition-wise for a growing puppy, and it might be easier for them to digest properly.

Thanks for the advice :-) we had our puppy on innova puppy food, and we had her on it for a while, she was not doing well on it at all, however our lab did great on it, and we have now switched our lab to the evo and she did even better on that, we were trying to get them on the same food but it's just not going to work that way, our husky has a very very sensitive tummy, and I read a lot about the california natural, and every one I spoke with said it was real easy on the tummy, but I wanted some more advice, we have her on chicken and rice (per our vet) for now, and we need to try some new foods, and that one seemed to be the best for her situation, I just hope if we try it it works, because it has been an on going problem and I feel bad for her.I just want her to feel better :-(

Ah, I just realized you were also on another board that I also responded to. I think you generally get really good advice on there and I think as a whole the posters are very knowledgeable about nutrition. You'll also see some of the same folks on here too, but I think this site is more opinion-based rather than science-based. Hope things work out!

I use California Natural in my rotation.  Both of my dogs do very well on it.  I have adult dogs but still get the puppy formula for the higher protein. We are on Blue Buffalo right now and also have good results.

I am glad to hear your dogs do well on it, because we just picked up a small bag of the puppy formula! She is still on the plain chicken and rice for a few more days but she is doing good, each day she is getting better, I just hope she takes well to this food, I don't know what to do if she dosent!

I Luv my Lab - Let me know how your puppy does!  My SO and I are thinking of switching to California Natural for our puppy as well...she is currently on Innova puppy but her stools are pretty soft making us think Innova is just too rich for her.  (She was briefly on Science diet for 3 days to clear up some diarreah and her stools were wonderful on that and when we went back to Innova back to loose stools - but I do not like the Science Diet ingredients at all to feed that regularly)

I will let you know :-) We were talking to the vet today, and we had our husky on solid gold salmon and bison for a week a while back (only a small amount mixed with the innova) and she started to have solid stools, but we never switched completley to that, our vet recommend we try that again, so thats what we are about to do, but if that does not work we are going to put her on the california natural, they wanted to put her on that science diet stuff too, and I didnt want to do that either! So I talked to our vet and she thinks the salmon and bison is going to clear up the diarreah! I hope so! If we go with the california I will let you know how it works, we have been trying so many things with our husky and NOTHING is working!!!! :-( poor pup :-(
