What a weekend!

    What a weekend!

Between the 20 - 30 mph hour winds driving to the trial from IN to OH in an RV (think huge kite!) and the rain and cold on Saturday, I was exhausted on Sat night.  But Sat went ok.  We got 2 Q's out of 3 runs.  My friend's pop up tent was one of 5 that bit the dust on Sat because of the wind.  It even took her with it!

Our Jackpot run was the final run on Sat and it was so much fun.  I think Kota had a ball and so did I.  We Q'd which finished out our level 2 title in CPE.  We did a jump, then 5 tunnels in a row, then Aframe, jump, jump, teeter, double, 4 more tunnels to the table.  The tunnels were set as corners in a middle "ring" of the course, with 4 jumps inside of those and everything else around the outside, so it looked cool on paper.  We needed 40 points to Q and the first 4 tunnels were worth 20 for us.  He was running full out after he realized the course and looked like a little bullet.  I wish I could get him to run that fast all the time.  It was a hard course to get all the points needed for those dogs that were slow.  If slow-Kota had shown up, I don't know if we'd have made it.  But fast-Kota came to the line and LOVED all those tunnels!  :)

Sunday dawned a much brighter and warmer day.  We got a Q in Standard but didn't get time in Wildcard.  Wildcard is really not that hard.  Really.  But we seem to have problems with it.  Though, I will blame the running of the trial that afternoon for some of it.  I blame all that mess for my bad mood, which meant I knew we were not going to do well.  Oh well, at least I knew that going in.  I was ready to walk and run that course at 2pm on Sunday which is when they finished building it.  I was to be the 15th dog on the line.  I didn't run for 2 hours.  2 freakin' hours.  I know things happen and the trial committee was doing their best to accomodate everyone because it was a 2 ring trial, but my dog!   I really just wanted to be done and to go home.  We did not leave the trial grounds until 5:30pm.  We got home at 9:30pm and we'd left on Friday at 7pm.  Oh, and I didn't get my massage.  :(  There was a woman there giving chair massages and I was going to get one after my last run.  darn it.

But we went 3 for 5 this weekend and I'm pleased.  We're in all Level 3 now in CPE.  Our next trial is in June in OH again but a different host club.

This one has Kota's path and my path on it.  If the colors come through, I'm red and he's blue.  :)

Oh nice! I am going to try this.

    • Silver

Way to go to you and Kota!!!! Out of novice, tooooo cool! Sorry about the aggravation caused by the ay the trial was run. That is unneeded stress, for sure. We have enough on us as it is when we are out there running with our furries.

    • Gold Top Dog

I am soooo happy to be out of Novice everything now.  I really appreciate the time and patience that judges have in USDAA and CPE with novice dogs because at one time, I had dogs that ran out of the ring or would just stop at the top of the Aframe, etc.  But man, I'm glad that now that my dogs, for the most part Wink, run the whole course with me, I don't have to be part of classes that may take hours and hours and hours to run because of zooming dogs, or dogs that pee in the ring or dogs that won't come out of tunnels, etc.   It's hard to be 6th dog in the ring but have it take forever because of zooming, or pooping or whatever and you're just left standing there with your dog thinking it would go fast.  It makes it very hard to judge when to be ready.  I don't have a dog that can wait forever on the sidelines.  Sad  Wish I did.  lol....

So now, all P2 in USDAA and all Level 3 in CPE.  Whoo hooo!!!!  Big Smile
