    Wohoo! We finally got it!

Neiko did his first back vault in frisbee today! Wohoo! I've been working with him to do this trick FOREVER. Of course, being the goofy young aussie that he is would go after my head and hair every time I bent over to have him do a back vault - instead of going after the frisbee. But today, he did it on the first try! I was so shocked I was whooping with joy. The kids at the playground were making fun of my "Yay!"ing but they are just jealous because they don't have such a cool dog that can do back vaults! Stick out tongue

Now I just have to work on my frisbee toss so that he can actually catch it on the vault! That's the hardest part. I'm so uncoordinated, I have not idea which throw to use or when to release.

Congrats!  That's awesome.  I can't wait to see you guys in disc competitions on TV soon! Wink

Coool!! It's such a great feeling when your dog "gets it" on something you've been working on. Way to go to both you and Neiko!

That is awesome!  You'll have to try to get it on video for us.  :o)

I don't even know where you start to try to teach something like that.  Vaulting off me wasn't something I really had any desire to teach Luke, being 90 lbs and all.  *wink*

Very cool!  I bet Kota could do it if I knew how to teach him.  And of course, the whole needing to catch a frisbee while doing so would be a problem.  I'm impressed!!  :D

I think what helped him get it was I started working on him in the house. Before that he just didn't understand. So, I removed the frisbee from the equation and had him get on the couch while I got on all 4's on the floor and had him "touch" my back. Then I had him jump over and so on. Then I just went out and tried it with the frisbee and he did it - up and over. yay!

Next thing I would like to get him to do consistently is a hip vault. He sort of gets it but not totally.

Btw, Karissa you don't need him to use you as a vault, you can teach Luke to use you as a hurdle instead. It looks pretty much the same.
