Tomato juice help prevent urine burns on the lawn ???

I wrote about my polka-dotted backyard last spring.................still have it !

I was at a local gardening center last Sunday to buy some Guard Dog.   http://www.getmicrosolutions.com/guarddog.html

At the checkout, I asked the gal if she knew of any other products to help.  She said that her parents have been giving their dogs plain ol' tomato juice for years and have no yellow spots.........

After some more digging online, I found this statement.....http://www.thepetwellnessclinic.com/guarddog.htm

Anybody know anything about tomato juice and dogs ??    I have Guard Dog spray and will be using that.  But if a bit of tomato juice will help prevent the spots in the first place and most importantly will not do the dog harm......why not try it?  The Guard Dog is expensive ( $25 for a bottle to treat 500 square feet)

IF my dogs would leave the grass in the ground, I would just hose the lawn down daily to help dilute it.  Proper hydration will help with burn marks too.  I've heard that males aren't as bad as females, but I have no idea if that is true.  As it is, grass doesn't grow where husky paws tread.  They tread too fast.  Sigh...now, if you can give me a way to keep grass growing despite the speed of my two's racing, I'll gladly help you research the tomato juice thing.
