I'm so happy, back on Sojos

Well I had the dogs on kibble from mid Dec. to the first week of February, because of travelling over the holidays (really about 2 weeks! I just got lazy I guess). I tried Nature's Variety Prairie and PetGuard, which is usually one of my favs.  For my bichons, on came the tear and beard staining. Dark rust red and tons of it.  Yeasty ears and lipfolds as well as feet and feet chewing began.  They had been eating sojos most of last year before i put them back on kibble/canned.

Decided to put them back on sojos mix (and I also rotate the strombeck book recipes) and it's been about 2 weeks.  Already, my bichons have a new ring of nice white fur growing and the red staining has stopped.  The tear staining is completely gone on Lexi and Darby's has diminished greatly.  They are going to have nice, white faces again!   Also, the foot chewing stopped, the red, moist yeasty skin is dry and normal and that fur is growing back out nice and white.  Darby's ear infection that has been ongoing since I started up the kibble, cleared up and is nice and pink and infection free.

No gas, nice small poo's.  No stinky beards (the sprayed on flavor/vitamins on kibble I guess sticks to their beards).

So far so good back on the sojos!  I just had to share with everyone, because my friends look at me like I'm nuts talking about dog food LOL.

What do you mix with the Sojo's? I've wanted to try it for Pirate, but I just don't get it, LOL.

Sojos has either a grain or a grain free base mix to which you add your own meat (and opt. veggies and extras). Then add water, stir and good to go.  They recommend raw or cooked meat. Generally for adult dogs it's 2 parts sojos to 1 part meat.

I rotate beef, turkey, chicken, rarely pork, and canned salmon.  I also calculate enough to make about 4 days worth so I'm not mixing every day.  I cook the meat for my guys, since they seem to do best that way.    I add about a cup of steamed, chopped veggies, generally, but have omitted them on occasion.

They really love it, and are doing great on it! Sorry, quick note, the hu-kids are crabby!Angel

Thats great that your dogs are doing much better!!

I have a question though, I was looking at the sojos website and they don't list any vitamins or minerals in their ingredient list. Do you have to add your own?

ETA:  http://www.sojos.com/dogfoodmix_info.html On this page if you read teh first paragraph, it says it makes a complete and balanced food.

I add missing link lately, but all last year I did not add any vitamins at all.  I ran bloodwork while they were eating it last year and 3 dogs had good levels.
