Can I feed my 40lb senior dog with keebles that are made for larger breed?

I bought couple 40lb bags of dog food for my Boo few months ago.  It's specially made for larger breed dog food. Sadly, Boo passed away last fall (it seems as if it was yesterday. I still miss Boo very much). Now, I have one extra 40lb bag of dog food and I don't know what to do with it. Is it safe to feed my other dog this kind of food? Mickey is 35lb senior dog. Boo was 80lbs chow mix. I don't want to take risk with Mickey. if I shouldn't feed him Boo's food, I will donate it. Just thought someone in this forum can give me more info. thanks.

Sorry to hear about Boo. If you purchased the bag in the fall, I would first check to make sure it's not expired.

    hi,

Yes, I've checked for expiration date and it's not expired until 2009.

    Thanks.

I don't see the problem in doing that.  Willow (50lbs, sometimes goes down to 45lbs) was eating a large breed food at one time.  The only thing you might notice is that they don't like the size of the kibble.

I think it would be fine - as long as he chews the kibble, there is nothing wrong with it =]

    thank you all!!!
