Know Of Any Good "Heel" Videos?

Do you know of any good "Heel" videos?  What do you think of these I found?  Do you, especially spiritdogs, approve of them or find any mistakes? For text, I found this posted by spiritdogs elsewhere: ClickerLessons.com - Heel.  That seems pretty good.  And then there is Shirley Chong's website too.

     Heel Video 1 Yes

    Heel Video 2 No

    Heel Video 3 Yes

Heel video #1 - I do use the lure technique to set a dog up next to me, but after that I use clicker training to reward the dog for catching up to my left leg.   I usually teach the sit next to the handler first, so that the dog is not confused about being able to sit next to me, rather than in front of me.

Heel video #2 - I don't blame you for crossing that one off your list.  The handler starts out correcting the dog on a prong collar, which is ludicrous - that collar is designed to be self correcting, and should never be used to pop a dog.  If you were going to use leash corrections as a method, the proper collar for that is a training collar (slip collar).   I have never seen such a miserable looking Lab - do any of you think that dog is having fun???? Obedience work should be viewed as an enjoyable partnership, with the dog willingly listening to the handler.  That isn't happening in that video.  Sad.

Heel video #3 - Honestly, it wasn't playing very well, and I didn't have the patience to watch, so I'll see if I can remember to come back to this thread later when I've done so.

Thanks, spiritdogs.  I'm confused though.  My dog sits automatically when I stop so far... (we're doing this inside the house), should I be clicking the sit even though I'm not asking him to sit?  Or do I just reward and not click when he does that?  I was a bit confused before about when I click.  Judging from what you read I should click only when his shoulder is in line with my pant seem.

I posted Video 2 just for good measure.  I looked at that guy's other videos and there's some pretty harsh stuff to be seen.  He even slaps the dog.  It was very tough to watch.  And it figures the guy has disabled comments.  The video where he forced the dog to hold an object was horrible.  I feel bad for those dogs.

Video 1 - I think this woman does ok, but the position she's holding the treat is different from what we use.  When we're training an attention heel (for Schutzhund competition), we want the dog's eyes on ours at all times.  So, if we're using a lure or something for this, you should hold it in your right hand with that hand on your left collarbone (close to the shoulder, but not quite on it).  I tried this at first, so he got the idea of what I wanted, then just started using the clicker and clicking whenever he looked at me (without the food/toy at the shoulder).

Video 2 - This was ridiculous.  The dog isn't heeling correctly at all, and his corrections aren't doing a thing but hurting the dog.  I admit that I correct my dog if he does something wrong and knows the exercise (obviously not like this, but I do use corrections), but this man was correcting the dog when she didn't even know what was expected.  He even corrected her for sitting when that's what he wanted!  I don't know how this man has dogs that work for him.

Video 3 - I couldn't really watch it...It was very jumpy and I couldn't view it correctly at all...

I like this video, though its not all heeling.  You can see how she uses the tug to keep the dogs attention while heeling, and how she tucks it under her arm.

Rescue Sheltie -- that video is great!

As for Video #2 (ruled out by the OP), that makes me want to cry. That poor dog! Look at her body language --poor puppy dog.

That 2nd video its just stupid, the dog is "heeling" and he still gives corrections, the dog will think that heeling is wrong, he tells the dog to sit, the dog sits and still gets corrections the dog is very confused, the "trainer" orders something and is telling totally the opposite by giving the corrections

No wonder why his comments function is disable
