Chicken Jerky - not from China?

Chicken Jerky - not from China?

Does anyone know if there is a company that makes chicken jerky not manufactured in China? I know I can make my own, but sometimes I just don't have the time to do it. Plus I have to watch it the whole time because my cats try to pull the oven open for it. They haven't suceeded, but that is definately a worry since I leave the oven open for it.

I went to the local good pet food store, and every chicken jerky was made in China. I have been looking online, but a lot of companies don't list where the products come from.

I don't know of any chicken jerky that's not made in China, but there is a turkey product similar to jerky made in the USA. PetsMart carries it and the brand name is SmokeHouse. The chews are about 1x7 inches and are 100% USDA inspected turkey breast. All the other products by this company are made in China though.

I haven't found any, either, I just make my own and freeze it. (Rascal likes it just as well frozen as not.) I've given up trying to buy commercial chewies after Rascal's gulping and the fears of contamination. Ugh!

Thanks! He may actually like those better then the jerky. I normally cut the jerky up for training anyway!

Salem is pretty picky as far as treats go, and the chicken jerky is one thing he likes. Plus I like to be able to bring stuff on hikes with us for him, and the homemade stuff doesn't work well for that.

Cheza would eat anything, but Salem is pickiest dog I've ever had. Totally not food motivated at all.

The homemade stuff doesn't work to bring on hikes? Maybe you're not cooking it long enough? The stuff I've made is almost exactly the same as the stuff I've bought in the stores, it just molds if it's left unrefrigerated for a few days.

I'm probably not cooking it long enough then. Mine never gets as crunchy as the stuff from store, and if I don't put it in the fridge Salem wont touch it the day after (which I assume means its bad). Maybe I just need to try cooking it longer.

Those that Jennie listed look awesome!

How do you make homemade again? I got a good deal on chicken breast ($3.99 a pound!) so I stocked up for the humans.

    I found some more: http://www.platopettreats.com/

    Homemade chicken jerky:

I cook them at about 200 with the oven open a bit at the top for about 3-4 hours, I cook them in a cookie sheet with cooling rack on the top of it so the juice can drain to the cookie sheet.

I don't think I'm cooking it long enough though, so maybe some more people will come along with their recipes.
