Anyone feed Acana?

    Anyone feed Acana?

    What have your results been?

Sierra's been on it for about 1.5 months now. She loves it, but her poop is HUGE! She poops 2-3x per day. She is shedding a bit, but i'm waiting another month to see if that goes away when winter is in full force. No gas, no weight changes... nothing else, really.

    So.. any experiences?

She's going to be on homecooked pretty quick, but she loves this food, and I'd like to keep using it in her treat-dispensing toys.

hmm... I just reply'd to this but apperently that didn't work.

Both of my dogs eat Acana.  Its worked well for them.  Not as well as a Raw diet as far as coat and teeth go, but not bad either.  They ate Canidae prior to Acana and there really weren't any noticeable differences other than they seemed to get nicely lean on the Acana.  I like that its Canadian made.

     Thanks for responding.

Which formula do you feed? Premium Adult?

I also like that it's Canadian made. Fairly inexpensive as well - I paid $34 for my last 15 kg bag (it was on sale Wink )

Yup Premium Adult.  If I was going to keep them on it for the whole winter, I would likely switch them to Sport, but they will go to raw for the most part during the winter.

It is a great price.  I tried to tell the pet store lady here that, but she is positive I should switch my dogs to Solid Gold... Uh.... no thanks... I am not going to pay for shiny gold packaging that's shipped from California.  No offence to California...and it is good food I know, but its drastically overpriced.  at almost $90 for the same size bag, I can get Acana for 45 and feed a small amount less...The math is easy for me... apparently she is mathematically challenged.

Wow that's expensive! For half the price I'd feed Acana too! So either the pet store lady can't do math or she just has no problem spending your money. lol

The way I see it is this... she is technically a sheep.  The petstore lady, I mean.

Her holistic vet told her that Solid Gold was the food to feed...and she didn't question her one little bit.  She just took her word for it.  She also has her allergy ridden dog on a bazillion different things for food allergies.  This to combat that kind of thing.  And because she went to a holistic vet, she now feels qualified to hand out advice like its gospel.  She tried to tell me that Acana was no good because she had an article on poultry fat being listed in an ingredient list.  Acana has Chicken fat listed.  The article went on to explain that if the ingredient list says poultry fat, you really didn't know what kind of poultry you were getting and for allergy reasons that isn't good. I think she just read the first line. In any event I nicely told her that while she blindly took all of her so called knowledge from one source without doing anything to verify it, I did all of my research on my own.  And that I continue to do more research on a daily basis.Stick out tongue

Does anyone know of an on-line store in the States that might sell it ? Seeing it's the top seller in Canada it must be good and I would like to try the Senior formula in my Labs rotation...

Honestly don't know if there is one.  I don't think there is one in Canada... so I doubt there would be a US one.  Really kind of annoying.
