Starting Obedience classes today

• Starting Obedience classes today seashell Posted : 2/5/2007 9:17:09 AM Unless classes are cancelled because of the cold Abbi has her first day of class today.  We are starting her in basic, even though she knows a few things.  After being with us for 9 months there is still a lot I want her to learn that I can't seem to teach her on my own, and yes I know that means that DH and I have a lot to learn too.   I wish I could take her for a walk before we go to get out some of her energy, but its -25 with the windchill today.  Any tips on how to help this go smoothly. • Scout in Canada Posted : 2/5/2007 9:21:00 AM Although it is very cold, I would try and get some energy out before class. An off-leash run would be better and quicker than a walk. Because you spend a lot of time in class sitting there, listening and watching - and it's frustrating if your dog is full of energy and won't sit still. Other than that, while you're seated have your dog face you and don't be afraid to give her tiny pieces of treats continuously when she is well-behaved.
