    How to find a trainer?

I'm having some difficulty finding a trainer in my area and wondered if any of you had any suggestions. Is there some sort of database that I can look through, or is there a list somewhere? I tried looking through the yellow pages online but I only found one and that was 30 minutes away. Thanks.

International Association of Canine Professionals is a great place to start.  Go to [linkhttp://www.dogpro.org]www.dogpro.org[/link] and right on the main page is a link for Find a Professional.
Look for someone with an IACP status of "Professional".

I would ask my vet if they new of any good trainers...that's how I found mine.

Try this: [linkhttp://www.apdt.com/po/ts/default.aspx]http://www.apdt.com/po/ts/default.aspx[/link] . It's a trainer search engine in the American Pet Dog Trainers website.

Thanks for the links, but neither one turned up anything remotely close to me. I'm from northern Mississippi, Starkville area to be exact. Zip code is 39759 if that helps. I thought I had mentioned it. Sorry bout that [&:]

How about asking the owners of well behaved dogs you see?  I had quite a few people do that when Mick was alive.

Be aware that not everyone who lists on that site or dogpro.com is a positive trainer, so if that's important to you, add these to your list:

Our vet has a list of local trainers included in the packets they hand out to new customers. You might try asking some of the local vets.
