First Day of School

    First Day of School

Maddie and I just attended our first puppy class! She did very well considering she was the smallest puppy in the class. The other dogs consisted of Labs, Gsds, Vizla, Doberman, and some mixed breeds. When the other dogs were allowed to socialize and sniff each other she became a little frightened. During the class though, she held her head and tail up high and walked proudly. I'm so proud of my little girl!

That's great!!! I hope things continue to go well!  What are you suppose to work on this week?
It must be hard being the smallest dog - as a puppy, Dodger would target small dogs and accidentally intimidate them because he was so intrigued by them. (Now he's the one who runs away from them![:)])
I hope she isn't as unsure next time (although I don't blame her!)

Thanks jetty.....This wek I will continue to work on getting Maddie to look at me, to sit when halting from a walk, down order on lead(this one she has trouble with), coming when called and of course walking nicely on a loose leash. I'm going to try to work with her a couple times a day for 10min each. It's been hard to train two dogs at the same time. I try to spend time with both.

Good girl, Maddie!  Glad you're doing well in your puppy class!

Congratulations! But I must tell you, with dogs, size DOESN'T matter!

My 10 lb Maltese is a big dog in a tiny dogs body. He is not intimidated by a 150 lb. Great Dane, or any other dog. Also, even though he is a little dog with a cat-size brain, he got a PERFECT score in Obedience 101. He was the only one to get that.

You're right about size! My other poodle Dugan who is 11lbs. thinks he's a GSD or something. He barks and carries on when he sees other big dogs in the neighborhood. When he was in odedience class a year ago, he too was the smallest student. He didn't seem to mind. He too did very well and earned his CGC at 6mth. of age.

How's the training coming this week?  Any noticeable improvements or setbacks?

I can't imagine having 2  (or more!) dogs to train at once - Dodger keeps me so busy, it must be a real challenge![:D]
