Consarn those rabbits!

Xeph Posted : 8/20/2006 6:46:10 PM Alright, I need some help.  Strauss's prey drive is pretty strong, but he's got a 99% reliable recall.  I can call him off squirrels, birds, cats, mice, voles, etc....his 1% of his recall...involves rabbits.   I don't know how to get him off rabbits!  And it's not something I can readily train for as rabbits only come by once in awhile.  I never allow him off lead where I think there might be rabbits unless the area is fenced.  If he DOES see a rabbit and he's leashed, I can reel him in, but he still insists on trying to get the rabbit.   It isn't so with the other critters I mentioned...just the darned lapines!   Suggestions? Can you find a mechanical rabbit?  One of those battery operated toys, and use it to train him to leave anything that looks rabbit-like.  Usually they come it hot pink (lol) but I am sure I have seen some in more realistic colours.  I realise the smell won't be right but it might be enough of a tool to get the process started.   Ok, laugh now.  LOL.
