teaching to be more active?

hi everyone - is there a way i can teach my dog to be a bit more interactive? all she wants to do is stare at me until i pet her. i'd like to teach her to fetch ... or even just to grab something in her mouth so we can play tug-of-war.

All dogs have different personalities, some like to play fetch and some dont, some like top run around and some prefer to snooze all day?

What breed of dog do you own? Maybe you just have a mellow pup

I am owned by a herding breed and she is the most mellow dog I have ever encountered. Weird thing is her dad was a nut, and from what I have heard all the other pups are really active...go figure!

What does she do if you run away from her waving a toy around? does she chase you? grab at the toy?

I used the clicker to train my basenji to play tug with me.
