i am going to get more information on sunday when i pick her up, they said she just has a sensative diet and prefers a low-residue diet,   i assume this means low-fiber?

Usually this means the dog has a problem with irritible bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatis (not likely) or a few other digestive disorders.  If your dog has one of these, he or she will most likely be on a prescription diet.  I would not change this without very close guidance from your own vet or a gi specialist, until you know a lot more about your new dog's condition.

If nothing specific has been diagnosed, your dog might benefit from some of the simple formula diets available - Cal Natural, Natural Balance has three single source diets now, and I think Pinnacle has one also.  Look for just one protein (meat) and just one carb (grain or potato).

Edited cause my post was the same as brookecove[:)] but I didnt hit ok until a long phone conversation.

    Anyway... what she said, lol.

I do think its important you find out exactly why this diet is needed as its usually a gastrointestinal issue and those can be pretty serious.  Keep us posted.

LOL Amy, I do the same thing, only just now I went out, fed and watered sheep, met a lady who was handing off three foster dogs, tested them (and one of her own) on sheep, walked everyone down to the big pond, swam them for a while, came back, caught one of the fosters who had earlier had no interest in sheep and now was chasing them all over the pasture, talked for a while, caught up on voice mail, then four hours later hit OK!  That was my post about the Native American dogs.  Fortunately it was a slow thread, [:D]
