If I remember correctly, it has to do with the amount of glucosamine in the formula.

So far I havent met anyone that wasnt pleased with using Eagle Pack.

Me. All of my dogs did horribly on it-- a first-- absolutely the worst food I've tried out of the dozen or so brands I've tried.
Lots of people have problems with the ingredients, such as the heavy use of corn.

I dont like it either and neither did my dogs, they barely touched it,and we are talking chow hounds here! I ended up throwing the bag away [&:]

There are so many better foods available for the price with better ingredients and better value for money, without all the corn and grains.

I'm not sure how you're arriving at your conclusions. Eagle Pack Original feeds the same as Canidae and is often priced the same. The other budget foods, EP's Prism line excepted, are either less kcals/pound or more expensive. As far as the whole corn thing, I've yet to see anything scientific refuting the benefits of whole ground corn in dog food. If anything, I've seen the opposite. Beyond that, several of the budget foods use white rice, which is practically devoid of any nutritional benefits whatsoever. If the white rice is enriched like it is on store shelves, then it's not quite as bad, but still not as good as brown rice.
