rotation question.

    rotation question.

for anyone that rotates their dog's kibble....

once the dogs are used to rotating food on a regular basis, do you gradually switch out the foods in the rotation or do you just go cold-turkey from one to another?

    thanks!

For me, I switch cold turkey but only because my dogs can handle it.  They do not have problems switching back and forth.  But on that note, I switch within the same brand--Natural Balance.  I think it depends on how sensitive the dogs stomach is.

i think we are going to try rotating 2 or 3 different brands, and not just different formulas in the same brand.

If you know your dog can change foods without a problem just transition cold turkey. As a company (Eagle Pack), and not knowing the individual dog, we always suggest transitioning over a 7-day period and using our Holistic Transition yogurt type powder. We feel it is especially important to transition large dogs slowly to reduce the possibility of bloat.

I have a food container that I pour any new bag into, so I do mix.  However, I have switched cold turkey when I'm comletely out and have had no problem.

I used to rotate. When I did switch from one to another, I fill the bottom 1/4 of the storage container (probably about 3 cups) with the old food and then same amount of new. Shake well.  Once that's gone, on to the new food.

Stopped rotating because nothing else works as well as the food they're getting now.
