    Wysong Turkey Au Jus

Just wanted to pass along, that it's a really simple, all meat canned, and Willow likes it so good for the fussy ones.  They also have beef, chicken, and a few others.  And, for those with furry kids with stomach issues, I've had no trouble at all adding this in to her i/d and also the Evo canned beef has worked fine for her too.

I can't seem to find the calories per can, but I'm thinking they are high.  I'm just buying the small cans and adding a little to each meal.  She's put on weight though.

Are they like the Evanger's 100% canned?
    • Gold Top Dog
I'm not sure, I've never used Evanger's.  But, this is like a loaf or pate type of consistency.  I thought Evanger's was more like pieces of meat, more like Merrick.

Lori  I'm so glad to hear your finding more good stuff that's working for Willow!!  [:)]
    • Gold Top Dog
No, the Evanger's 100% meat canned is the patte type.  They make like "stew" typed cans which are chunky though.
    • Gold Top Dog
Yup, then it must be similar to Evanger's.  The ingredients have been changed, simplified actually and the website isn't updated yet.  Here's the turkey--turkey, water, turkey liver, animal plasma, guar gum--that's it.

One more thing, it's canine/feline, so if you've got cats that's nice.  I'll stop now, I sound like I'm an employee. [:)]

Gail---It is great, but something in me keeps waiting for her to stop eating again.[&:]

That does sound pretty close (I should get some since my pup and kitten both like to eat canned out of the same bowl, lol).

The Evangers is just (for example--in the Duck formula): Duck broth, whole dressed duck .

Lori,  It's great to hear that Willow's doing better. I think the calories per can of the foods which are all meat are higher too; I've been feeding Jessie Nature's Recipe canned food and it's 95% meat; I've noticed that is has about 100 calories more per can then what I was feeding her, which is 65% meat. I hope she continues to do well.

Yeah Willow!!! Stay on the road to good health[:)].

What is animal plasma?? That kind of  sounds a little scary[8|]. lol
    • Gold Top Dog
Plasma is a part of the blood. "Animal" anything makes me feel nervous about a food, which is why I haven't tried Nature's Logic canned foods, yet. Plasma is  good, though. It helps with the digestion, or something like that. Nature's Logic has articles about it.

: What is Animal Plasma and why does Wysong use it?
W: Animal plasma is present in all foods that contain meat, as they also contain blood as part of the meat. Plasma is different than blood, because it does not contain blood cells. The nutritional advantages of plasma as an added ingredient beyond that which is naturally in meat is partly due to immunologic fractions, including IgG, similar to what is found in the colostrum in breast milk. Plasma also contains haptoglobulin, growth factors, other proteins and peptides, and transferrins. The protein fraction of plasma is highly digestible and also increases digestibility of other ingredients, including fiber. The source of the plasma comes from the Bovine animal. The plasma is filtrated, centrifuged and extracted from the blood. It is also dried during processing before it is added to the food product.

Q: Are there any communicable disease concerns created by adding Plasma?
W: No more than would be transmitted by eating any meat (which contains whole blood). After heat processing it is very safe. Remember, animals in the wild eat whole raw meat and blood with great benefit and optimal health.

Q: Is Plasma added to other Wysong foods?
W: Yes, it is in our All MeatTM Products as well as our Stew Diets™.

That is from the Wysong website, it's a nice site, very detailed.

The wysong sounds great!!  The plasma does sound scary, but it does make sense. Anything with blood has palsma (right?) so by using meat in the food the plasma would be in there too.

My cat LOVES the Wysong Archetype.

Did you know that many humans with serious allergies cannot have plasma transplants because of the IgG factor?  My sister wears an alert bracelet that says IgG Deficient - Platelets ONLY!  She gets one "freebie" and then the next one would have very serious consequnces to her.  I wonder whether there is a similiar problem with dogs.  But this is only a concern of humans with really, really bad allergies.

Yes, that's right.  All this is, is they've removed the platelets and are using the plasma for whatever digestive benefits it gives.  If you are feeding raw you are getting all of what makes up the blood, plasma, platelets, etc.

It must be true about the plasma helping digestion because Willow is a digestive nightmare and has had no issues with this food.
