Feeding Raw Instinct question...

Boomer has had a sensitive stomach and I've done a lot of switching trying to find something that works well for him - in the process he's become very picky. Well I brought home a sample of Raw Instinct and he loved it.

I know that the protein, calcium, and phosphorus are high, but on dogaware it says, "Do not feed to puppies under 6 months old unless mixed half and half with protein sources (meat, eggs, dairy, etc.) due to the high calcium content."

So I was wondering if it would be okay to feed to an 8 month, 55 lb dog if I add some other raw meat or should I be more cautious and wait several more months?

If he were pure pit, then I think it would be fine, as I know someone who's fed their pit Barking at the Moon since 6 months old and he looks pretty good. I wouldn't feed that to Boomer, though, since he seems more along the large breed side. For better or worse, we make a specific note to people buying not to buy Raw Instinct or Barking at the Moon for large breed dogs under 2 yrs old.

That really sounds like too much protein, even if mixed with other food.
And you should not mix it with raw meat cause raw meat needs much less time to be digested than any non-raw-food.

With a sensitive stomach you should try to feed completely raw, it`s not that tricky and it`s really good for your pup.
