eagle pack and innova evo

    eagle pack and innova evo

Would it be okay to switch between Eagle Pack Hollistic Chicken and Innova Evo? Or would it be better to stick w/ Eagle Pack and regular Innova (this is what I am currently doing)? I like to switch kibble every couple of bags, would it be okay to switch with 3 kibbles, or should I stick w/2? Thanks!

If I was rotating, I would personally try to stick to different foods that have somewhat similar ingredients (except the proteins, obviously.) and that have similar fat and protein levels. I wouldn't suggest rotating between these two because they are so vastly different. I currently feed strictly EVO but when I was rotating, I rotated between four different foods: TO Black Forest, Solid Gold Wolf King, Eagle Pack Holistic Duck & Oatmeal and Innova Large Breed. So 3 different foods is more than acceptable I would imagine.

    Good Luck!

I don't think it would be a problem, although you may want to choose another non-grain food to switch with the Innova EVO. You may also want to choose a different protien, perferably a red meat, for optimal variety and health. I think it's good to mix red meat and white meat, since in the wild they ate both varieties.

I feed EP Ancovy, Sardine, and Salmon normally, but do add in some EVO for variety at times. My Chi's don't have any problems with it.

Which other brand would you recommed? I don't really know which brands have red meat. Would Solid Gold's Wee Bit or Canidae be a good choice to rotate the EP with? I have tried the regular Solid Gold (lamb) but Pinky did not do too good on it.

Might I ask, why you are wanting to switch or add to your current feeding schedule? If it's working for your little one, then why change it? You could also try switching up between the Eagle Pack "flavors". I wouldn't worry much about the red/white meat thing, and just do what works.

I switch between different EP formulas!

My dog is such a picky eater. She barely eats 1/4 cup food a day (most days its less than half of that.) If I constantly give her the same formula, she would never eat.

I believe we can "create" a picky eater. Some times switching them around makes them even more picky.
I am sure that your baby would eat when she realized that was it, take it or leave it. A dog will not purposely starve itself.
1/4 of a cup may not seem like alot, but for a small breed dog, it can be plenty. My Chi's eat 1/8c am and pm and maybe get one EP holistix biscutt or a bite or two of my husbands dinner, but that's IT.

    Isn't that the truth! lol
Diane-I had the same problem with my puppy (more info in a previous thread)....eventually I came determined to finish a bag of food so I refused to switch or add samples of other foods etc (which he was used to doing).  Mine eats just about as much as yours and he is doing fine.  Since I haven't switched in the longest period of time (a month, lol), he has begun to eat more and more once he realized that nothing better was coming along.  The only thing I switch is canned (he gets every morning) because he scarfs it down anyways.  Hope this helps!

Ok. I would like to explain myself. I dont buy new bags/samples before she finishes, nor do I try to give her whatever shes wants. I have been feeding Innova and Eagle Pack for 2 years, and like to switch because I feel that she gets sick of just one kibble and would like to give her variety. She is a picky eater(has been that way since I got her from the breeder), but my rule is "if you dont eat your kibble, you dont eat."  Maybe 'picky eater' was the wrong phrase, I guess I can say she has a small appetite. Honestly, I just wanted to know if the huge differnece in protein between Evo and EP, was considered ok to give her. Thanks.

I like Timberwolf Organics, Diane. They have elk, lamb, bison and venison based formulas. They also have a grain free fish based one, which might be good for your picky eater and also good to add into the rotation. Good luck!

Thanks, I forgot all about TO. But, isnt it hard to find in stores? You have to order it online, right?

Luckily a pet store in my area sells TO (which is what I feed my puppy), but you can order it online for a decent price from www.petfooddirect.com
The TO website, although the base prices are high, no longer charge shipping in the US for orders over $10.
