It's because meat has a LOT of phosphorus, and you have to balance the calcium

hosphorus ratio to somewhere between 1:1 and 2:1. There is so much phosphorus in meat that it would (probably) be impossible to add enough calcium through foods. Or, if you attempted it, I suspect the diet would be deficient in a lot of vitamins/minerals/amino acids because you'd be feeding such a huge percentage of dairy products (and so would have to exclude other things).
It also seems to me that many other commonly used ingredients (veggies, etc.) have significantly more phosphorus than calcium.
You can use this site to look up the phosphorus and calcium content of whatever ingredients you use, so you know how much calcium to add:
