Please tell me what you think of these ingredients.

Hi, I wanted to change my dogs food as they were on Bakers Compleate and I have become very aware how bad this food is.
So I went to a pet shop called Pets At Home and found a food Called Wainwrights Mans Best Friend.
The lady in the shop said it was their own brand and that it was the closest you can get to James welbeloved but at a much better price.
So I looked at the ingredients and decided before I buy to ask you guys for your opinion, Hope you Dont mind Would really appreciate it.

Low Allergen Poultry Digest as gravy,
    Alfalfa Min 1%
    Seaweed Min 0.5

I'd say it looks good compared to most of the other foods I've seen available in the UK. The only thing I don't like is the poultry digest and I'd prefer to see a few veggies and fruits, but that's just what I look for in a food, others may disagree with that part.

I think Eagle Pack is available in UK if I'm not mistaken

Oh no, you're not daft at all!! Here's a link below from the dog food project. It's a great list IMO! If you scroll down you'll see digest in the "flavoring agents" section:

As far as fruits and veggies, it's something you can always add yourself. I just prefer to have the food balanced for me.

Cazzy- I totally forgot that EP Holistic is available in the UK. That would definitely be my choice, of course it's my choice here in the US too. [:D]

Personally I like to see more meat than 26%. Also the amount of sugar beet pulp in it is high and at that point it's no longer acting as a pre-biotic so much as it is to increase the palatability of the food.

As well as Eaglepack,Timberwolforganics and Orijen are also available in the UK.But i think the OP is on a budget and these foods are pretty expensive.

Kaytee you're right in that wainwrights is very similar to JWB,and i have heard good reports from others who feed it.It is definitely a mammoth step up from Bakers.Excluding the abovementioned 3 foods it is probably one of the best you guys have available to you. So i would give it a try and hopefully it works for your dogs.
But keep in mind to give it at least 6-8 weeks before you start seeing an improvement, and start mixing it in slowly with their usual food. Some dogs get the squits from a cold turkey switch.

Thanks Edie, Im glad you have heard of it and think it is ok, I am really pleased as it is so hard to find a good food over here, My little Cavaliers Will be Happier on it Im sure. I tried to look it up on the net but there was no information yet as I think it hasn't been out too long, The 26% meat is much better then Bakers 4% Im ashamed to say I ever fed that to my dogs..:( at least I know better now xxx
