    No I don't agree.

Bottom line, any company that buys its ingredients from someplace else as opposed to making it right there with all of the other ingredients is, to me, shady and not to be trusted

You better stop feeding your dogs all commercial foods as no producer has a complete vertical market on their food.  Also you better stop feeding raw unless you are growing all the food yourself.  How could you trust the supermarket??

    Anyone agree?

I think saying a company is shady because they don't make everything themselves in one spot is going a bit too far.

Considering all of the ingredients in dog food, no one company is going to grow, harvest, butcher, mill, etc it all. They just couldn't.

Well, maybe a company like Merrick can do that with meat because they own a company that picks up downed animals from ranches, a rendering plant and a pet food company. (Yeah, their site says their cans of dog food are human grade, but does NOT say the dry food is human grade.)

Did you buy a Kenmore appliance from Sears? They outsource production. Applebees sells steaks, but doesn't have a cattle ranch. Does Honey Dew Donuts own bee hives? Nope.

So while I don't expect a dog food company to produce every single ingredient in their foods, I DO expect them to make sure what they use is good quality and safe.

I just recently switched to a grain free kibble called Orijen. This is a Canadian
pet  food where they state all ingredients are from local Canadian sources
and processed in there own plants. My other option would have been
to go with Innova EVO, but Orijen also has puppy versions of the food.
