That's not surprising given the scope of the recall. It will be interesting to hear the number of pets that have been sick or died from the witnesses at the Senate hearing on Thursday;    [linkhttp://www.durbin.senate.gov/record.cfm?id=272058]http://www.durbin.senate.gov/record.cfm?id=272058[/link] .

I just hope they get to the bottom of this somehow. I don't know how many of the reports can be confirmed...or will be.   Update 4/10, 5:12 a.m. PT: 3,730 pets have been reported as deceased to our PetConnection database.

There will be some reported that did not not actually die from the food.   BUT I bet for every one reported that was not actually killed by the food, at  least 20 will not be reported that DID die from it.

I am not a big Banfield fan, but their size and recordkeeping will prove invaluable in this situation.

To be honest, I don't trust them at all after the fiasco of dealing with proheart6.  At the hearing on jan. 31, 2005 for the FDA to decide if it was safe to be brought back to the market, Banfield was there and testified that NO DOG RECIEVING PROHEART 6 AT ANY OF THEIR CLINICS HAD HAD A REACTION/DEATH.  But I was in contact with some whose dogs DID HAVE A REACTION, DID DIE, IT WAS REPORTED TO BANFIELD.  They were most upset to learn that Banfield had claimed no reactions.no deaths when they had reported it to Banfield.

ETA  But this is difrerent, there is no way they can be sued, and they don't have a money insterest in it like they did with having people coming in to get PH6 injections.
