Any Evo canned issues?

    Any Evo canned issues?

Been reading about the recall and how EVO is canned by Menu Foods but not in the recall factories.  I feed my dog EVO canned along with Innova kibble and he's had diarreah since Sunday morning.  Last night and this morning he tried to go, but nothing came out.  Also he had been vomitting here and there (every couple days) but I think that was more related to him inhaling his food rather than the food itself as I cut his serving size and he hasn't done it lately.  From reading the symptoms he hasn't been lethargic or drinking excessive amounts of water.  The only we think could attribute this is a biscuit the woman at the bank gave him

So does anyone know of any instances of EVO having any problems in terms of the recall?  We fed him white rice and boiled chicken to help even things out.  If this doesn't clear up by tomorrow, we're going to take him to the vet.  Thanks for the help!

I haven't heard of any problems with Natura foods...I feed my own dogs Innove dry..I was also feeding canned...However I did stop the canned because it is made from menu foods...(not in the recalled plant}...There dry foods are made in there own plant..

I never used the canned but I was using the Innova Evo dry until I discovered the metal from the bag was getting into the food...

I stopped using it since they would not tell the public or recall the food.
I hope they corrected the problem.

    Can you elaborate on that?

    Sure can.....
It looked like very fine glitter.  I have recessed lighting above my counter's & when I would open the bag it would come out, it would be on my hand's & in the food.
Innova Evo say's it is a safe amount.
In my opinion there is no safe amount of metal in any food & Innova Evo should have let the public know & or recalled the food.
They don't seem to want to post any of my comment's on their site about it, they only post the one's where the customer's are happy with the food.
The food does sound like a very good food but the fact that they kept the metal's in the food from the public is in my opinion sneaky, not to mention chevy is being treated Homeopathically for vaccine damage & the metals in the food of course interfered with treatment..
Below is a letter that I got from Innova Evo.

    Dear pet lover,

The appearance of “silver flakes” that sometimes appears in our EVO dog food comes from the simple action of opening the EVO bag.  The flakes are actually from the silver ink imprinted paper on the outside of the bag which is disturbed by the tearing of the paper during opening.

After thoroughly investigating the situation, you#%92ll be relieved to know that the ink used for the EVO bags meets the requirement of Toy Safety, CONEG and California#%92s proposition 455 that limit heavy metal content.   Specifically, the total heavy metal content is less than 100ppm for lead, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, and mercury.  The aluminum used in the metallizing process is regarded as safe (GRAS) as designated in the Food Additive Amendments to the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.  This all means that the flakes are free from anything that might be harmful to your pet.

However, this is indeed an unintended phenomenon, and Natura is taking steps to prevent this from occurring in the future.  We are currently working with our bag supplier to locate alternate suppliers for packaging paper.  In addition, all bags currently being made for EVO no longer have the EZ Open string pull feature which exacerbated the situation.  You can expect EVO to be available in new packaging in the very near future.

We hope that this information has adequately addressed any concern you might have.

I use the EVO canned daily with no issues and will continue to do so. I don't know anything about the "metal" getting into the bag. You mean the metalic paper?

I should also add that I alway's used scissors to cut the top of the bag off.  It was coming from inside the bag, regardless of what they put in their letter to me.

I feed my cats EVO canned and will continue to do so. They are doing great on it.

I don't feed Innova dry - so I don't know anything about flakes of metallic ink from the bags. Working in printing, I know how little ink actually ends up in the finished product and how safe and regulated inks are, so I personally wouldn't worry about that. I'm not even sure why they would need metallic ink. It can be quite a bit more expensive and I'd prefer to save a few cents over having a pretty bag.

I have fed both regular Innova and EVO and noticed the silver "glitter" only after handling the outside of the bag of EVO. I have not seen anything like that from the inside of the packaging of regular Innova. I am sure it is just rubbing off of the outside of the package of EVO and you have nothing to worry about.
