Solid Gold IS manufactured in Diamond plant...

Isn't she a riot Sandra? That was taken not long after I got her.  She used to love to watch things move on the monitor.   Yes I did see that picture, I remember crying.

I'm about to go email NB to see what they say about being made in a Diamond plant.

I'm so glad that I decided to ditch kibble, months ago.

I just wish I felt ok about any commercial treat or kibble, anymore. Emma is *SO* sensitive that one little bite could cause a serious reaction, and if it's all made in the same place..... *shudder*

I was going to buy a little bag of Barking at the Moon for clicker training. The dogs are outta luck, on that one.

when you have a huge manufacturer making products, the quality control issues are without question.

 
I do have to agree.  I've opened almost a years worth of cases of prescription food.  I haven't had one problem.  I opened much less quantity of Merrick and had problems with not one but two cans.

Absolutely, not acceptable.  I don't care how holistic or what they put in the food. You would think that companies that brag about how healthy they are would make sure there aren't objects in the food that could actually kill a dog if ingested.  What good is human grade ingredients if you've also got stuff they shouldn't be eating getting in.  [:@]

Subcontracting out dog food to different kibble manufactures is nothing new. Over 15 years ago I sold a private label dog food made by a gal in TX. She had worked years for a couple big end dog food makers and was not happy with the results. She went out on her own to make dog food. She subcontracted a plant near her in TX. As I recall she may have not had strong faith in the main food being producded there, but she was a task master when it came to her food and quality. She knew the industry and knew when and how to keep good control. It was then I learned there were only a handful of kibble producing plants in the USA, and most small to medium sized dog food companies always subcontracted out. I also had a friend 5 plus years ago that worked first for Nutro, then for Pro Plan, and he would always mention where different foods were made. So, things have not changed very much over the years.
I guess one positive way to look at it, Solid Gold (and whoever else sub's out their food to this plant) was not made at the Diamond plants that had the grain problems. Which means either the Diamond plants out here on the West Coast runs a tighter ship, or they were lucky.

Yes, I used to buy the menhaden biscuits for Emma. She loves them, but the barley makes her itch. I make all the treats, now.

Menhaden makes top mackeral bait!  Catch them in my bait casting net right off the jetty when mackeral, etc run them in.
