Chicken Legs?

    Chicken Legs?

Are chicken legs just as good as chicken wings?
I have always seen here that chicken wings are used, but chicken legs are cheaper...
And can they be fed frozen?.. as I would like them to last longer then 5 minutes.

My ridgies are bolters so chicken legs scared me. I stuck with necks, and only leg meat, not bone.

I fed chicken leg quarters to Ella all the time.
    She LOVES them.

The chicken leg quarters will be a bit bigger (a lot, actually) than a wing, so they won't be quite the choking hazard a chicken wing is if it's eaten too fast.

your dog will have to actully bite through the bone and make the bite portions smaller in order to swallow anything.

I personally prefer leg quarters - especially for larger dogs (all mine are at least 70 lbs), and especially for animals that eat quickly.

Necks are entirely too easy to swallow whole, choke on, etc. A leg quarter is big enough that most dogs will NEED to chew on them before they can swallow them, which is safer. I recommend feeding parts of the animal that are at least as big as your dogs head.

In addition, to make my dog slow down, I feed almost his entire diet (all raw) frozen.

I also prefer the chicken leg quarters. The dogs actually have to chew and work at it. I give chicken necks and wings to the cats and my Poodle..but stick wth the bigger pieces or Turkey necks for the big guys.

I've started feeding chicken legs as well, the dogs seem to enjoy it alot more than the wings.

Joy gets a leg quarter each morning, and she hasn't died yet[;)] *knock on wood*

Depends on the size of the dog. You want the raw meaty bone to be large enough the dog has to chomp on it instead of trying to swallow it whole, but not so large the dog consumes his entire week's worth of calories in one sitting.

How many calories would be in one chicken thigh?
