So I came home with Solid Gold

I intended to get Nature's Variety Venison, but I wound up bringing Solid Gold's Barking at the Moon home instead.  I wanted to get away from rice for a while since the dogs have been on foods with rice (and chicken) for years now.  They sniffed the bag and tried their handful sample and were looking for more- but they are chow hounds.

I am mixing VERY slowly over, since they are going from 26% protein up to 41%.
I also got a catalog from Solid Gold and I really like what they had to say.  I know they can be a bit sensationalist in their advertisements but I think overall, they really care about dogs' health.

BATM has salmon and beef in it and potato also, among other things.  Smells pretty fishy but hey, if they do ok, I'm ok w/it.

Thought I'd update.  ANyone else try it?

My dog did fine on it.  I will buy it again in the future but I'm not low on kibble right now.  Remember that you feed less of the high octane kibble than the low to mid 20s protein kibbles.

I haven't tried BATM but my two are on Wolf King and seem to be doing fine.  Granted that the kibble is supplemented with beef stock, ground beef, fresh and frozen veggies, boiled white rice (at times) and alot of other various foods.

I had my dog on Solid Gold for many years.  She has allergy issues along with weight issues.  I was told that the Solid Gold was good for allergies and would take the weight off from her.  She gained weight on it, even though I was feeding much less than the recommended serving plus she would through up at least once a week.  About 2 years ago , I took her off and changed to Nature's Variety.  She  stopped throwing up but gained more weight.  Switched to other food and her weight is down, no more throwing up or itchiness.   I do like their supplements though.  I use Seameal, Yucca, and Life Exxtension.

Which one?  They vary quite a bit.  Was it Barking At The Moon?

I used it for clicker treats, when it was turkey and salmon. The dogs LOVED it, but they never had more than about 1/4 cup at a time. I don't feed dry food with that much protein. Mine can't handle it. One is old and the other is liver compromised.
