cabbage- cooked...please answer...i want to feed it to my guys but want to be sure its safe

I had stuffed cabbage today and i only eat the inside :) so that leaves the cooked cabbage  to be thrown out...rather put it to use....

so can i feed it to my two small dogs?

I would probably not feed them too much of it at one time,,,thinking it might make them sick.

YOU COULD FEED IT TO ME IF WE LIVED CLOSE!  I lovd stuffed cabbage, steamed & buttered cabbage, fried cabbage, slaw, lots of shredded cabbage in home made veggie/beef soup.

I can't really answer your question.  Mine have never had cabbage as I had never thought about giving mine cabbage.  I know it could probaly make of "gassy dogs" so i would only give a tiny bit

My basset loved cabbage.   She did get gassy, but then she was a gassy dog in general once she got to an elder age. Other than that, she had no ill effects

It might make them gassy. Emma's allergic to it, but it doesn't bother Teenie, at all.

Cabbage is one of those fibrous leaves that are highly indigestible.  It's a great source of fiber but not a lot more.  Even cooked it does not break down readily.

If you feed it, I wouldn't feed too much.

My dogs eat red cabbage raw, no problems at all with it.

ive read that cabbage is good for dogs.

Red cabbage is great - look up the nutrition data online - plus plenty of fiber. Yup, big time gas will be imminant if you feed it. Green/white cabbage is lots of good fiber - don't knock fiber as the dog foods go to a lot of trouble to put fiber in their foods. A feeding every so often, if you can stand the aftershocks [:D] will keep those anal glands expressed nicely.

If YOU eat cabbage rolls regularly, many dogs will get used to the cabbage and gas will be minimal soon. Particularly if you add other fibrous veggies also, for variety (steamed and if possible, pureed in the food processor). Don't go crazy, any more than a tablespoon every other day is not really useful. Your mileage may vary.

    thanks for the info!

They looove it, probably because of the burger and rice that was cooked within it lol

You could always mix it into their regular tin food, or make your own treats by mixing it into minced meat with other vegetables.
