    dog food question

i am feeding my dogs nutro  puppy food. i notice my lab has large stools. when i used to feed my othe rdog "blue seal" brand she had small tight stools.
she had a problem wioth anal gland expulsion and some people told me she was compacting to much so i statred feeding nutro .
unfortunatly she got anal gland cancer and has since died.
now i am afraid of what to feed.

the tight stools are easier for picking up...small poop area we have..
so what would you recommend for a balanced food

Joey does best on Nature's Logic.  It is the one of 2 foods he hasn't had slimmy stool or been constipated on.  His stools were also firm on Eagle Pack Holistic Lamb, but his muscle mass is noticably better on the higher protien Nature's Logic.  Solid Gold Wee Bits wasn't bad either.  Although for a large dog, I would use there Wolf King formula, which is similair to Wee Bits, but for large dogs.

I would recommend trying anyone of the following brands. There's usually some amount of trial and error finding the one that works best for your dog.

    Nature's Variety
    Innova
    California Natural
    Eagle Pack Holisitic
    Natural Balance
Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul
    Timberwolf Organics
    Canidae

Yes, I'm quoting my self.  I believe that Nature's Logic and Eagle Pack Holistic Lamb worked the best for Joey's poo problem because they both contain large amounts of probiotics, which are the healthy micro organisms that help with digestion.  Both of these foods also contain ingredients that feed and keep the already existing probiotics healthy.

I have been feeding my 1-1/2 year old Nature's Logic dry and canned for several months. Her coat is shiny, her poops are small and firm and she has maintained her weight beautifully. She is enthusiastic about her food, being fed 2 main meals a day. I do vary her diet with raw frozen from A Place For Paws and Primal Pet Foods, also highly recommended.
