Go ahead and fast for the night, then go with a small chicken and rice meal in the morning with a bit more pumpkin.

Do you have an emergency vet you can call?  If so please call them and get their advice.  In pups you have to worry about dehydration. Do you know what started the diarrhea?  A change in diet or worms can cause diarrhea.  When was her last fecal test?

I know in adult dogs you fast for 24 hours but I believe that's too long for a puppy.  I did find a link that might be helpful, it also says not to fast pups too long.  Make sure she is drinking water. A bland diet of rice and boiled chicken in a small amount will help and call your regular vet in the morning. But if she starts vomiting and more diarrhea get her to an emergency vet s.a.p.

Well she is drinking and seems her normal self.  I am not going to feed them tonight and then feed in the morning and see what happens.  If she is not better in the morning I will go to the vet.  Thanks for the link, it was interesting.

They had a bit of extra canned food today, and I have not been giving them canned for awhile, but was a little low on my homecooked recipe, so I thought I could mix it, maybe a bit much for her tummy [:(]

Will watch her tonight and if it gets worse we have a 24 hr. clinic.

Here's a tummy soothing recipe I just ran across, haven't ever tried it though

    TUMMY SOOTHER

    Boil together I white potato
    1 red potato
    1 turnip
    1 leek
    1 sweet potato
Cook the heck out of this mix, use broth (chicken, beef, veggie, whatever) instead of milk to make the mash. It is very well
tolerated by most and although it provides nutrients it allows the gut time to rest and repair!

I don't know if you know this but you can test a dog to see if it is dehydrated by pinching its skin. If it snaps back into place the dog is hydrated.  If it takes a second or two you need to get some liquid into the dog.  You can try unsalted watered down broth to encourage the pup to drink if water is not appealing to it.

You know your pup best, I'll bet you are right it was the added food that didn't sit well with her tummy.  She will probably be better tomorrow.   Sending positive thoughts!!

Candace, that's a great tip for getting them to drink more easily when they're dehydrated!!

How's the puppy doing tonight? I have thought about it serveral times today.
My concern is for parvo. Pups at this age are very susceptable, especially if unvaccinated. Just worring here, sorry.
