    Green Tripe, SG canned

So what is the deal with this stuff? Is it meant to be fed as a dietary supplement? Whats so great about it? I have heard good things, and picked up a few cans...but what is specifically good about it?  That fact that it is green? or tripe? or both? heh.....

Here's what Solid Gold's website has to say..

"Tripe is the stomach lining of the cow#%92s “fourth” stomach, or abomassum. The abomassum is where the actual digestion of the grasses and grains the cow has ingested takes place. Green tripe contains the partially digested plant matter the cow had eaten as well as the naturally occurring gastric juices and digestive enzymes.

Green Tripe is excellent as the sole diet or as an accompianment to dry kibble with a great taste dogs love!"

And here's another site talking about it: [linkhttp://www.paws-for-raw.com/shop/tripe.php]http://www.paws-for-raw.com/shop/tripe.php[/link]

I use Tripett, which is a little different than Solid Gold, and their website is good at explaining the benefits:

A lot of people prefer raw tripe, but I'm very happy with Tripett. It greatly improved Louise's coat and appetite.

I get Ella's green tripe from "A Place for Paws".
It has absolutely NO odor and she LOVES it.

I rotate with different brands of tripe, currently I'm using ZiwiPeak tripe which my dogs are going crazy over.  I don't feed it as a major source of their diet I just add it to my kibble meals just as I normally add canned dog food.[:D

The owner of the doggy food store I go to is going to be ordering me some BARF tripe.
It comes out over a $1 cheaper than when I have to order it online and have it shipped.

I feed it once in a while as part of my dogs' varied diet.  But, I can tell you that it is sometimes a godsend to have a can around when you have a dog that has lost its appetite.  It seems to perk most of them right up. [;)]

I also get my dog's green tripe from www.aplaceforpaws.com
I highly recommend this product and all their raw frozen diets.

I use it when I am traveling, training on the road, and competing - it keeps away "stress tummy" very well! I usually mix a can of that and a can of wet (I like the EVO meats) and a sprinkle of EVO. It's a little pricey but it means they eat well on the road and it's easy on the tummy.

It's the cheapest brand for me and the easiest for me to get. If I could get Tripett locally I'd probably get that instead since I believe you get 100% tripe with that one (Solid Gold has potatoes and beef broth).

The rest of the time they get a couple of tablespoonfuls in their food a few times a week. I also use it to hide Ben's [many] pills in. He'd eat glass if it were hidden in tripe. [:D]

As someone else said, I also feed it to sick dogs.
