    Supplementing with raw....

Is it best to feed 2 meals that each have some kibble and some raw, OR one meal of all kibble and one of all raw?

Can someone give me some websites with sample balanced raw meals? [:)] I would really appreciate it. Or ideas of what you give. I'm not sure where to start.

I dunno if it's better to give kibble and raw together or seperate. I don't think it would make a great deal of difference.

We found raw alone to be a little tough to keep up with with three dogs, so our dogs only get 50% of their diet in raw. The other 50% is homecooked. Half their raw component is meaty bones from lamb or chicken wings or something similar. The other half is ground meat with mashed fruit and some yoghurt or cottage cheese mixed up together and frozen. We figure giving it to them frozen is a good workout for their jaw muscles, and it's nice to give them something that takes them a little while to get through.

Not too sure about the websites. I really like the [linkhttp://b-naturals.com/Sep2005.php]B-naturals[/link] site for a comprehensive pile of information on what dogs can digest and what they need. There's always the BARF and rawmeatybones sites.

I prefer to feed either one or the other during meal time. I have read on numerous websites that dogs digest kibble slower than when they digest raw.

And I have learned from experience that kibble + raw in the same meal makes Prince puke all over. Bleck. [:'(]

Never had a problem mixing raw and kibble, raw frozen and kibble, or canned and kibble.

When we started our aussie on raw a few weeks ago, we mixed it in with the kibble, but the lady that convinced us to start feeding raw said not to mix because like someone already stated it takes longer to digest and when you have raw meat that may allow the bacteria to multiply to much. So I would feed them seperate althogh jamcony has had  no problems mixing kibble & raw.

I would stick to one meal kibble with perhaps a rmb afterward, like a chicken wing or other consumable bone, and one full meal of raw.

I've never had a problem mixing raw and kibble either. I was reading some information today written by an animal nutritionist about supplementing commercial diets with fresh foods and according to a DVM,DACVIM gastroenterologist, kibble ;passes through the stomach in 5 to 8 hours, so it does not take much longer to digest than raw.
