feeding raw meats

I had been feeding her Timberwolf Organics Wild and Natural.
She was doing good on it, but her stools were HUGE.

If I had the time to homecook, I might.
I barely got time to homecook for my human children! ha!

    Jessie is a cutie!

Thanks; jjsmom said her dogs stools were large and soft for a few weeks on TO before getting firmer and I think  smallerRight now I cook ground turkey and beef patties as well as pork stew meat once week and freeze them to feed with her kibble during the week, so I'll just cook enough of a recipe to last a week and freeze it in seperate batches. I'm afraid to go totally raw but Jessie does get some raw meat. Whether a dog gets raw or homecooked I think the main benefit is that they're getting food that's a lot less processed and more natural.

Perhaps feeding raw has given Neke extra time, but why did she get these illnesses to begin with,do you think? I've always believed raw fed dogs are some of the healthiest out there and they dont succumb to half as many diseases as ,say,ol roy et al fed dogs.

Perhaps i see raw feeding as the be all and end all and i do hold it very highly on a pedestal, because i thought raw fed dogs rarely get sick, and it really disheartens me to hear of nekes and of other stories like hers.

Whats your theory on this,i hope i've made myself clear enough??

Well, Neke wasn't always raw fed.  She was kibble fed the first 7-8 years of her life.  Then there were those two years when I was fostering for a local shelter and they convinced me to give my guys the combo DHLPP shots every SIX MONTHS ... for TWO YEARS!!!  UGH!

There's also genetics.  If the genes aren't great no amount of good food is going to be able to overcome that.

And finally there's just 'cause.  I know a woman that ate only organic foods the majority of her life, never drank to excess, never smoked, wasn't around smokers, drank only filtered water, worked out, slept at least 8 hours per day, didn't do drugs ... in other words was the LAST person you would think would get sick.  And she's got Breast Cancer.

    You just never know.

You are both beautiful by the way,you are one strong woman Lauri and i really admire you :) I wish you both many happy and healthy years together

Awww, shucks!  And thanks!!  I'm hoping we can see another Christmas with Neke but I think that is being alot optimistic.  I'd be happy to make it through November with her - but she might just surprise us! :)
