Colton should not have Duck.

    Colton should not have Duck.

I bought a bag of Eagle Pack Duck/Oatmeal and have been feeding it to Colton for about a week now.  This is terrible!  He has never shed this much in his entire life!  I just had him on my lap near my computer and the computer got lots of hair on it, and I'm covered!  I even just stripped him a few days ago!  He also has started chewing his paws which he has never done before.  He also has pretty loose stools.   I don't want to waste the bag, but I think I'll be mixing it with the Bil-Jac until its gone.  Thats what I get for changing when I was very happy with the Bil-Jac.  I may try one more of the Eagle Pack formulas for Rose after she has her puppies so that I can have a back up to the Bil-Jac that I know won't make her look mangey, but this Duck won't be it!

Bil-Jac is a weird food.  It looks kind of substandard (corn and beet pulp are not my favorite ingredients) but I've seen lots and lots of really good results with it - friends' dogs, especially show or working dogs.  I think it's magic.  [;)]

Yeah....I have no idea what it is about Bil-Jac.  A lady I know has a kennel of show Husky's and has tried EVERYTHING under the sun like Innova, Eagle Pack, etc etc and Bil-Jac has been the only thing that has worked for all of her dogs. *weird*

Rose does great on the Bil-Jac.  I would just like to have a food that I can use as a back up in case I can't get Bil-Jac.  One that I know works well for her coat .  But, if its not working for Colton, I don't think I will use it on Rose.  I don't want to have to feed them different foods.  I still can't believe how much Colton is shedding!  He's never been like this!  I just started working at Petco, and as soon as we get stock in(its a brand new store) I may look into some of the foods there.  I know we will have Natural Balance, but I don't know what else.  Bil-Jac is magic food though!  I doubt I'll find one that works as well, but I still feel like I need a back up.  I like to be prepared!

Has anyone tried Nature's Recipe Venison and Rice formula?  It was recommended to me for my sheltie, but I would like to get some feed back before I switch her over.  She has allergies and I want something that will work well for her.  Also at what age should she start eating a senior formula?  She is 6 now and in good health, I just want to do what is best for her.  I honestly don't know what the difference is in senior formula.

Same thing hapened to my dogs when we tried eaglepack.I tried most of the formula's,none of which they really liked,it was a trial trying to get them to eat it,and they did terribly on them [&:]

My guys seem to to the best on no /minimal grain foods.

Bil-jac isnt a terrible food, true there are many better foods available, but there are also many that are far worse! If you're dogs are thriving on it,then stick with it and perhaps choose a super preemium like evo, timberwolf organics or naturevariety as a back up or rotation.

Natures Variety is one I was considering since I can get it at dog shows.  There is usually a dealer there.  I can buy it from a store a little closer(80 miles round trip) but that would be the only reason for the trip.  Id rather get it in a place I was going anyway.  I don't have access to TWO and really don't want to order off of the internet.  When I go to the Tulsa show, I think I'll pick up a bag of Natures Variety to try.
