    Allergic to Wellness Lamb?

I noticed recently that after Dweezil eats, she does this series of "half sneezes" for a little while.  It'll last maybe 15 minutes.  While she walks around it's like she's .... beginning to sneeze?  A really quick exhale through her nose.  She does this over and over for awhile.  But it's only after she eats.  My friend at the pet store recommended the Lamb "flavor" of Wellness because it's rare dogs would be allergic to it.  I'm not sure if that's true ...  I'm still mixing it with her old food, nutro max.  He said the Wellness is guaranteed so if I need to bring it back, I can ... but ... what would I try instead?

Try the Wellness Whitefish & Sweet Potato. Has  less ingredients so tere woudl be less to react to. A friends allergy dog does GREAT on it!

This used to be the case way back when... before there were dog foods made with Lamb. Now there are so many choices of lamb foods, people use them for everyday feeding, so more dogs have been exposed to the lamb diets. It is no longer reasonable to believe that lamb is specifically for allergy dogs. The whole concept of "novel" proteins is to provide a protein that a dog has never had.

I left a voicemail for our vet ... but it's hard to even explain the "sneezes" she's sneezing.  I wonder when they'll tire of my questions ... do vets mind the questions as opposed to the visits?  I don't think they would learn anything of her allergy if I brought her in, as she only sneezes after eating.

Wellness lamb is not a good allergy formula becuase it has so many other ingredients in it.

Does your dog itch, lick or have soft stools? Those are the common signs of food allergies. I have never heard of a dog sneezing after eating. Maybe she is just doing a "reverse sneeze"? My dog does that sometimes.

Hmm... it's definitely an exhaling.  She licks a TON, and occasionally, yes, her stools are soft, but not each time ...  Vet still hasn't gotten back to meee...

This is funny because someone else I know just started feeding the Wellness Super5Mix Lamb and their dog started sneezing...weird...I would think its the food now that I have heard it from two people! [8|] Either that or just a really WEIRD coincidence...hmmmm....

I think I know what you're talking about. Is it sort of like a snorting type noise? Cherokee does that, and now that you mention it, usually it's after she eats. I never thought anything of it before though. When she does it, she also usually runs into a carpeted room and starts rolling around. I just thought she was weird! You've made me wonder though...

I think the rolling around, if she is trying to scratch herself on the carpet, that could be allergies ...  I'm not sure about the kinda snorty sound (but i'm pretty sure it's exhaling, not snorting in).

She does have allergies, but the rolling seems more like playing around and just being goofy to me. I dunno.

And yeah, I meant snorting out..like..think of a "snort of laughter", do you know what I mean? I don't know how to describe it...

It's kinda like...the beginning of a sneeze...or maybe the beginning of a cough.  Or...something...  I took her off the Wellness for now.  And put her back on the Nutro Max.  So far it's only been for one meal, so I'm not sure yet.  I'll let you know.  I hadn't seen any of this before the Wellness.
