That's so sweet. I wish I had some Ol Roy to donate. Normally, I just give them cash and let them get whatever their needing. We're going to gather up old comforters and towels to give to them for bedding, one day. If I could, I would volunteer time. They do take on volunteers, unpaid assistants who get personal satisfaction out of helping. The Sherman Animal Shelter has a 7 day pts schedule. A pet has approx 7 days to be adopted before euthanasia. The hard part for me would be to not bring home more pets. I do have a budget. We're going to schedule very soon a spay for Jade, which will cost $90, which is not bad. But, at that shelter, in our rural county of rednecks you will find, pure and mixed Sibes. What's even worse is that $44 covers the adoption, vacc, and s/n at a supporting vet. That is, it costs less, mostly, to adopt from the shelter than it did to pick Jade up off of the street, literally. As it turns out, I have heard that there is a breeder of Sibes in the little town just west of me. All they have is a blinking yellow light at a state highway. I could see a bubba buying a cute puppy 'cause they saw "Snow Dogs" or "8 Below" and when the dog gets to be a year old and doesn't act like their old Yellow Lab, off to the shelter, if they'll even spend that gas.
I've rambled, sorry. But I think it's great when any of us can do something to help out those in need.
