    Nature's Variety Frozen Raw questions

Hi everyone! In reading some posts, I decided to look into the Nature's Variety frozen raw.  I went to their site and see that there are several stores within 10 miles that carry the frozen raw.  I am VERY interested in trying this, but I have a few questions:

*How much do I feed two 15 lb. Jack Russells? According to the calculator on their site it would be about 4.9 oz. of raw each, or, about 1/2 a pattie, or about 4 medallions. This doesn't seem like very much, or is is just my imagination?

*Do you feed it all at once, or split the amount up into 2 servings, i.e. give 1/4 pattie in the AM and 1/4 pattie in the PM?

*Do you give supplements or other things (i.e. yogurt as someone else mentioned in another thread) along WITH the pattie, or seperate from it? And, what would be a "good" supplement to go along with the Nature's Variety patties?

*About how big are the patties? I mean, in diameter, about how large are they?  Maybe this will give me a better idea of the feeding amounts.

Sorry for all the questions, I am just trying to research this as thoroughly as I can before trying it.

    Thanks!
    Circe

It doesn't seem like a lot, but it's enough.   I feed the medallions in the evening (kibble in the morning) and add tripe to them and give a RMB.   You can feed once or twice a day, but if your dogs normally eat twice a day, I would keep doing that.   You don't need to supplement, but if you want to you can give it whenever you want.

Edit:   NV raw only has 5% vegetables while most other premades have 10-20%, so you can supplement with vegetable mush if you want.

I loved using nature's variety raw. I fed twice a day to my greyhound (can't remember how much but I followed the info on the package). He LOVED it!

Only thing I added in was veggies.

I also used the Natural Balance raw frozen food (comes in beef and chicken). I felt that was another great product as well!

I feed the raw medallions to my kitten and he loves them!  It does seem like you're feeding too little, so I leave out dry food just in case :)

A 15 pound dog? Only 4.9 oz per day?

My 13 pound, senior Dachshund gets 8 oz, and is quite trim.

My 17 pound, special case JRT gets WAY more than that, but she has absorbtion issues.

I guess it depends on their activity level. My dogs get a good walk or run every day, and are constantly moving around. They swim, the JRT plays frisbee, they run and bark and wrestle....  You'll probably have to experiment with amounts, at first. Just weigh them, before you switch, and weigh them a week or two later. Adjust accordingly.

Yeah, it didn't seem like a lot to me either.  I guess weighing them like you suggested would be the best way to go. They are active, they get walked 2x a day, and have a large, fenced-in yard to play and run around in.  My female is less than 15 lbs, probably closer to 12 or 13 because she is smaller (she was the runt). My male, on the other hand, is quite (as I like to call it) "husky" and could stand to lose a pound or two.  Actually, most of it is muscle, and he is on the bigger side, but he can get chunky if I don't watch his treat intake.
