Interesting. Gobie, my 10 yr old minpin has several fatty tumors, one is directly behind his right front elbow. It does not seem to limit his mobility yet. I've had it and the othe rtumors looked at and my vet balked at the idea of removing all of them. Some are about the diameter of a dime or nickel. One is as big as a grape and the one behind his front right leg is walnut sized. he already had 2 removed from his chest a few years ago.
I try to keep him slimmed down. As he's aged, he really holds the weight. I've cut him back to the 6lb recommmended feeding amounts of PetGuard and it seems to be keeping him at 13lbs, which is a good weight for him. The tumors have stabilized and stopped growing as much.
Aside from hindering mobility, those fatty t umors really take away from the sleek look of the dog
and I think he finds wearing harnesses for his walk uncomfortable.
I am in a new area and may look into another vet and getting another opinion about removing the tumors, especially the walnut sized one and the grape sized one, which is above his left shoulder, near his throat.
