Have to go cold turkey on a new kibble...

Java is allergic to so much (oats, potatoes, carrots, barley, eggs...not sweet potato, which is odd).  So I was giving both dogs Avoderm revolving menu, which seemed to be pretty much OK for Java.  I was getting it at PetSmart, and now I see they don't have any.  I asked and was told they were having trouble getting it.  Checked Amazon, and they don't have it.  Did some research, and Avoderm had a recall (which I knew about), but they have now stopped distributing all products while they investigate.   Ok...

But I need some dog food!  I found some Wellness Simple formula, but it is grain free, gluten free.   I'm not into nutrition that much, but I believe I might be in for the squirts...blech.  I have pumpkin...

You could add some plain live yogurt or probiotic capsules to help.... Wishing them & you the best

So, Java's okay with a rice based kibble, and lamb?  What about this product;   Limited Ingredient Diet - Lamb Meal & Rice Natural Dog Food : NUTRO® NATURAL CHOICE® Dog Foods - The Nutro Company

It's sold at Petsmart and may do until Avoderm is available again. I'm so sorry you have to switch cold turkey; maybe Java will be okay.

Oh, somehow I missed that one...will go look for it tomorrow!  I used to feed Nutro with good results until other things became more available here.  Thanks!

Your welcome Big Smile. Jessie has many food allergies like Java, and she also has chronic pancreatitis and has to be on a low fat food. She was on Nutro venison and rice for three years and did very well. They changed the formula recently, adding more fat, so we had to find another food.

There seems to be so much changing of food formulas that it is driving me nuts!  And new foods galore!  You would really think it would not be so hard to find something acceptable for an allergy dog.  Anyway, I found the Nutro...let's hope it stays around for a while!
