just wondering what foods would be good to start a pup on - its my sister's pup so I am not sure what she is currently on (they don't get her until next week)
are any grain free's OK? Not sure how high in price she'll go either but tell me what you think

I wouldn't start a pup on a grain free food.
Cher did really well on Precise Plus Puppy. I will definitely use it again with any new puppy who comes to our house. The price was VERY reasonable!

Karen, do they grow to be 50 lbs or more? I might be outdated, but grainfree's USED to be not great for large breed pups.

thanks ladies - I wasn't sure about the grain free
Glenda I 'think' that a female will be up to 50lbs but closer to 40 - but that is just what I've read on the net

I feed Precise, and love it, and will raise my next puppy on it. Started my kittens on it, and several fosters, and Fluffy, the once bald Cairn. I'm thrilled with the results, all around.

Precise is a nice food, with good formulations---but NO ONE carries it around here. Other options that I like for puppies are Castor & Pollux Natural Ultramix Puppy formula, and Avoderm Puppy Formula---- both are reasonably priced and can be found at Petco and Petsmart.

thank you tzu mom, I had checked her zip and no one has it near her and she isn't going to order online - at least at this point so am thrilled you came up with some alternatives!
