    Update on Maze

Well Maze has been eating just raw diet for about a week now. And I must say, I am impressed. Her coat is soft and shiny, her chewing is down 100%. But she still stinks. Lol.

We got over her little issue of being a dainty priss. Lol. She's chewing bones with no issues.

I did the deal with the vet. Unfortunately some things came up with the house that had to be dealt with. But with working with my vet, and doing a full physical, the two resident vets (yes Maze got 2 vets! Smile ) diagnosed her with an irregular heart beat. So no medications needed. I'm to keep her on the supplements, regulate her exercise and basically try and keep her mellowish.

Her cough is almost nonexistent except when I zone out and walk to long with her backpack on.  However agility is out of the question but Rally O and Therapy is still good to go.

diagnosed her with an irregular heart beat.

what's the cause of the irregular heart beat?  Did they confirm if it is enlarged as they had told you three or so months ago?

It's not enlarged as they originally thought. And there was no sign of disease or infection so the best guess is she was born with the defect and my original vet missed it when she was a puppy. The only reason I found out so late in life was because I wasn't working her that hard the past few years but last summer I started training harder, getting her ready for competition.  *shrugs*

I'm glad it's not as serious as they originally thought. Give that sweet girl some belly rubs for me.

I am glad she is doing well with diet and that she can still do rallyO and therapy.  :)

My guy was diagnosed with an enlarged heart a little under 2 months ago. He had the hacking cough for quite some time and ever since I switched his diet, it went from coughing 7-8 times a week to once or twice a week, possibly less. Miraculous what a proper diet can do.

1/2 lbs. of 80/20 ground beef with 5% liver and kidney, 1/10th lbs. of beef heart and 2 chicken necks as RMB's.

Maze's cough is down incredibly! She really only coughs now when excited.  So maybe once a week.  Her coat is clearing up and her doggie smell is almost gone.  Now if I could just get her to understand that as a dog, she can break the bone on a turkey leg... Lol
