Anal glands impacted twice now in a 6 month old puppy

I just read this in the whole dog journal and thought of your pup if he is not getting any relief This was recommended by a English Setter breeder and it was about two of her dogs whose anal glands had to be emptied frequently. She added 3 dried prunes to the large dogs dinner once a week. She said she never had another problem with glands. She said it has a mild laxative effect but the main benefit is the fiber. She also said if your dog is eating kibble to soak the prunes in water for 1/2 hour before adding it to the food.

His filled each time I try to transition to a better food.  Normally his stool is way bulky firm, he isn't having problems going.  When I start to add the new food at about 20%, after a day or so he would get mushy stool which in turn fills the glands.  Prunes would make him have mushy stool I would think- good gosh it does me!  I talked to a terrific lady who owns a holistic wellness pet store and am working on transitioning to Fromm Gold puppy.  After the first few days his stool is firming up.  She felt I should go slower and just keep going.  Don't stop even if he fills and give it enough time for him to adjust.  I am doing that and he is filling!  But I see hope as far as getting on a new food.
