Ok, I have the momma guilt again! HK products are so appealing to me. Keen looks great- not only is it a great price, it also is turkey based, which teh dogs do very well on. I was thinking, since I just ordered an 18lb bag of PetGuard (to which I was planning on adding crockpotted meats/vegs), do you think I could do HK as a topper? My main issue with HK is, every time I try even a sample of it, Gobie gets diarrhea and it looks just like what it was when he ate it. And generally he chooses to have this diarrhea overnight in his crate. Ew. What if I got some, mixed up just a small amount and used it as a topper. Then would they get used to it and be able to switch over to it? The next question isn't really answerable until I try, but would the bichon girls tolerate it? So many thoughts! but I really love the way they do on homecooked, I am just so pressed for time... ugh. thanks for your thoughts :)

Crock pot? You can use ground turkey, carb of your choice (or, hey, none) and veggies. My dogs think they've died and gone to heaven, smelling it all day.

Whenever I feed a topper with kibble, I don't add any carb source, because I figure there's plenty in the kibble. Just usually a meat and a veg. So you think better to not try the HK?

Living with dogs with chronic digestive upset (Emma and now Jewel appears to be similar), I wouldn't, LOL. All those wonderful, healthy ingredients just don't always work out for the sensitive kids. Since Gobie already got sick on it, and he's an old man, why bother???

Jennie, you are right :) Really they do great on PG with toppers. I will stop worrying and stick with what works for Gobie especially, but the girls too. So 1. I get convenience of doing kibble, and 2. I get the satisfaction knowing they get real food toppers as well. Silly human :)
