Canine Learning Experience Rally Match Results...

How does 3rd place with a 94 out of 17 dogs sound? Big Smile It would have been 2nd if I hadn't been an air head and done Sit Down Sit Forward instead of Sit Down Forward, tho. Tongue Tied  But you know what, screw up or not, we had a great day. Before our class, I told my husband that even if we totally blew it, the day was successful- that was the busiest place we've ever taken Caleb and he really did quite well just hanging out.
A couple of pics.  Beginning, of course, at the Start.

Heeling between stations.  Sorry it's a little blurry- we don't heel slow!  LOL

And the last part of the Halt, 1 Step, 2 Steps, 3 Steps.

Can you tell we were having a blast!  Caleb was anxious to get in the ring as soon as I stepped in to do the walk thru.

Of course! He is a lab and it looks like you do many things really right and he is having a ball. Labs just love a fast pace, my old fella really liked to move on too.

HInt... work on looking forward rather than down, trust him and you will find he will also heel slighly more  forward too which helps collect those points. It is hard to get out of training mode, but may be your husband can help you. It also gives the impression to the judges that you are confident in your dog and know what you are doing.... First impressions count and you and you Lab deserve to win :))

    NICE JOB!!!!!  Way to go!!

My very first competition, I was up against a nationally ranked trainer (who is also a judge) with her own dog, and her student/apprentice trainer and her nationally ranked dog - those two took 100s.  I did a Down/Walk around instead of just a regular Down as the very last station.  Lost 10pts, but I was nervous and up against intense people.  The next day, those dogs didn't show because of the rain, and I took 1st. lol  Got me addicted to the blue ribbons right then and there.

You and Caleb look like such a happy team.  Congratulations on your success!  (and, isn't it so nice to have pictures?!  When you look back a few years from now, you will be glad your husband was there to take those shots.  I wish I had more of me and G.)

     That sounds GREAT! Congratulations!

Thanks everyone!  My feet still haven't totally hit the floor.  I asked my husband today if I'm this razzed about a match Q and placement, what the heck am I going to be like when it counts towards legs?  LOL

Sounds like where we train!  You know, Tyler, the Lab who won the NOC the last 2 years?  Yep, he trains where we do.  Now you know why I have doubts about us.  LOL

We were having a blast, that's for sure.  Caleb is so much fun, no matter what we're doing (even just playing in the back yard).  I'm so glad my husband went with me.  He usually doesn't, although I think he might come more often now.  LOL  I keep looking at those pictures and thinking I can't believe that's me and our dog.  I never dreamed we'd have a dog who worked like Caleb did Saturday.  Now, to be honest, he's not always like that- we have days where it's a challenge to get his little yellow brain to turn on.  But, once it does, oh boy!

Yikes!  A training associate just gave us a recount of his experience watching Petra at the Verona show.  To quote him: "It looked like a ring performance you didn"t want to be up against. ...The retrieves are spectacular, full bore to the point you'd swear he's going through the gates, and then turn on a dime. The ROJ looked like a King Fisher scooping breakfast and pulling a 180 at full speed in 24.  Think I was impressed? They blew my socks off in person."

So, uh, yeah, no wonder you were concerned about your own performance.  lol But, you did your training group proud, surely!!  You'll do great at your next trial - keep up the confidence!  Cool

LOL  Tyler & Petra aren't the only team that work like that, either.  But, yes, Tyler and Petra are something to watch, even in training.  Caleb gets the funniest look on his face watching Tyler, especially doing go outs and retrieves.  It kind of looks like a look of awe (yeah, I've got a strange dog!  LOL).  This is where we train http://www.topdogobedience.com/
