    Diet post TPLO

I've been wondering if I should consider a diet that would be best for healing after Bugsy has the surgery. His staple food is Orjen fish and he gets lots of fish oil and supplements (Vit E, A, MSM, Nutrijoint, gluco/chondroitin)

he also gets a bone meal one day a week meaning pork neck or some beef knuckle (with a bit of added meat)

I also try to get in 1-2 meals of fresh foods like sweet or white potato, kale or green beans with sardines/salmon/jack mackerel/ ground beef or canned tripe in each week

do you think I should just stick to the Orjen so that it is balanced or does what I'm doing seem fine, any thoughts?

he is now a very healthy dog well other than his knee LOL

What you're doing sounds GREAT, to me. Of course, you already know that you're probably going to have to feed less, and change to feeding from toys. I feel like dogs do better with some fresh food in their diets, even table scraps are better than the same ol kibble.

I would stick with what's working for him.  I know that some people recommend decreasing protein levels while dogs are being confined.  It might work for some dogs, but I will say that it does NOT work for all dogs.

I would run the supplements by the surgeon to make sure that they won't impede healing.  Chyna had to have her carpal joints frozen, & I made the mistake of giving glucosamine/chondroitin/MSM during her recovery.  It did cause problems & didn't allow the bones to fuse.  She ended up having 2 more surgeries to get it right.
