My 2 year old Cockpoo, Jamal tore his carpal pad on Christmas Day while we were out walking in the woods.  We rushed him to the emergency room where they stitched up his pad.  A week later when the stitches were removed I was surprised to see that it had not healed at all.  My vet suggested that we stitch it up again.  I chose not to primarily, because after reading all the posts on line..I came to the conclusion that the best way for it to heal is on its own.  I am currently wash his foot daily after a walk in warm water and Epsom salt. Apply EMT collagen gel on the wound and allow it to air dry.  I use an e-collar to prevent him from licking.  I do remove the collar when I take him for a walk...I wrap the foot with water resistant self sticking surgical bandage.  The wound looks great and should heel in another 3-4 weeks.   I recently read about Dermapaw cream and sock for dogs ... might purchase the sock so I don't have to put the e-collar on him
